Our Lean Journey

We have a dynamic, long-term business strategy for continuous improvement throughout the NN, Inc. companies. The program is called Level 3, and it is a tactical plan utilizing the dynamic tools and methodologies of Lean Enterprise (based on the Toyota Production System), Six-Sigma Quality, and Maintenance Excellence. All are combined into a managed system that relentlessly attacks waste in the form of excessive inventory, transportation, processing, scrap, motion, over-production, and rework.  We began our "Lean Journey" in 2003 with the implementation of our continuous improvement program - Level 3.

Level 3 features dedicated management of the program at the factory level, employee ownership, and corporate accounting to help guide the effort and maintain the gains that we have earned. Each lesson learned from Level 3 is incorporated into business plans and future improvement objectives.

To continue the inertia of our Lean transition, NN, Inc. sponsors ongoing employee training and development. At the factory level, all hourly personnel are given training in value stream mapping, kanban systems, 5S techniques, and standard work. We also sponsor a level 3 Master training course, along with Green Belt and Black Belt certification programs, which meet the standards of the Six Sigma Academy.

Today, we have witnessed significant gains in all corporate metrics with much of the credit attributed to our continuous improvement program, Level 3. These tangible gains are the result of a dedicated workforce that has embraced the philosophies, learned the tools, and implementing projects. Of all the gains in efficiency, our greatest achievement is the change in our empowered culture. Al employees have a hand in driving much of the direction and project selection. Level 3 has become a way of life at our Industrial Molding Corporation.

For two years running, our Lubbock, Texas facility has been awarded the Level 3 Project of the Year for all NN, Inc, companies in the Americas for 2006 and 2007. Level 3 is another testament to our culture of positive change.

We believe in being a good, "Lean" citizen to those whom we share a business relationship.
