Manufacturing – Lean Systems
IMC maintains a wide range of Lean systems to increase the speed, accuracy, convenience, and servicing of production deliveries. The Lean systems allow us to meet high service demands with a reduced level of inventory. Examples of the systems are:
- Heijunka scheduling systems in all major areas
- SMED (single minute exchange of dies) used on all production floors to limit down time during changeovers
- Poke-Yoke systems to minimize the risk of defects escaping containment
- All inventory, a computer-controlled system to assure FIFO movement patterns
- Computerized Kanban systems driven by customer demand and replenishment targets
- Buffer inventory, maintained for regular and flexible release quantities
- Certified Black-Belt and Green-Belt support
- Value Stream Mapping used to identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- OEE (original equipment efficiency) monitored and used to identify opportunities to improve
- Automation integrates the operator into the output cycle
- Over Fifty Kaizens per year, a source for continuous improvement of operations
- Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) systems used to track and implement maintenance tasks
